The Atlanta Business Chronicle recently described Josh as the go-to guy on health-care policy and legislation. He has significant experience in litigation, healthcare regulation, administrative and appellate law. Josh regularly represents corporations, healthcare providers, hospitals, physician practice groups, and individuals in courts of law and before various administrative agencies. He also has extensive experience in matters involving state and local governments, including serving as co-lead counsel in litigation brought by the United States Department of Justice against the State of Georgia for conditions in Georgia's psychiatric hospitals.
Before joining Robbins Firm, Josh served as the Executive Counsel to Governor Sonny Perdue of the State of Georgia, the chief legal advisor to the Governor. As Executive Counsel, Josh provided legal and legislative advice on a variety of issues, particularly healthcare, civil practice and local government law. Josh earlier served as the Legal Counsel to the Georgia House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, where he participated in, among other legislative matters, the revamping of Georgia's eminent domain laws.
Josh has written several articles on the peer review privilege, medical malpractice reform, campaign finance and procedural issues in litigation. He has also been a guest speaker addressing the Majority Caucus of the Georgia State Senate, the Georgia Hospital Association, HomeTown Health, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Georgia Orthopedic Society, the Biennial Institute for Georgia Legislators and Republican Leadership for Georgia.
Josh remains active in the community. He serves on the Law & Judiciary Committee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, is the President of the Pace Academy Alumni Association, and he serves on the boards of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federalist Society, the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute, and To Remember, a non-profit organization founded to further research into cures for Alzheimer's Disease. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Georgia State Ethics Commission, the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the board of MCG Health System, Inc., as a member of the Sandy Springs Charter Review Commission, and on the board of Republican Leadership for Georgia.
In 2011, the Atlanta Business Chronicle named Josh one of the 40 Under 40 of Atlanta's Rising and Business Leaders. In 2010, The Fulton County Daily Report named Josh one of 10 attorneys "On the Rise," and Georgia Trend named him one of Georgia's "Legal Elite." Atlanta Magazine named Josh a Georgia "Rising Star Super Lawyer" in 2009, and James Magazine listed Josh as one of the "Best Lawyers in Georgia" in 2006.
